PCGS 1881-S Morgan Silver Dollar MS-64
This 1881-S (San Francisco Mint) Morgan Silver Dollar graded at MS-64 (mint state 64 out of a possible 70) and encapsulated in hard acrylic by PCGS (Professional Coin Grading Service). The coin has a few very small dark spots on the reverse , please make sure to examine the enlarged pictures provided.
The Morgan silver dollar was designed by George T. Morgan. The Morgan dollar ran from 1878-1904 and 1921. Morgan’s initial “M” can be found on the obverse at the truncation of the neck. Morgan dollars that were struck sharply hand have a prooflike reflective surface are very rare and usually command a very high premium. The coins have reeded edges, and were struck at the Philadelphia, Denver, New Orleans (defunct), Carson City (defunct), and San Francisco Mint.
